What we say and how we say it, reflects our thinking, our beliefs, and where we stand in terms of our vibration. So I have been paying a lot of attention to what other people say as well as to how I use my words.
A proverb is one man's wit and all men's wisdom.
Lord John Russell, in Notes to Roger's Italy (1848). Claimed by him as his original definition of a proverb
Maxims are the condensed good sense of nations.
Sir James Mackintosh, quoted on the title page of Broom's Legal Maxims (1911).
As I was growing up, my mother and grandmother used a lot of proverbs in their day to day speech. I don’t believe we use them as much anymore. That’s probably a good thing. My observation is that proverbs were a systematic way of handing down belief systems. My study of the law of attraction has convinced me that it is better to let each person construct their own beliefs and the only belief we need to communicate to each other is that “all is well under all circumstances”.
Some proverbs seem to hold the law of attraction at their base, while others come from a negative stance.
“Never take a quarrel to bed”, of course not! You would then hold it in your vibration all night and wake up in that negative vibration the next morning. So this is a good standard.
“Where there’s a will, there’s a way”, because everything you want must be, the universe will find a way to get it to you.
“You are as old as you feel”, absolutely, age is a matter of thinking.
“Birds of a feather flock together”, yes, like attracts like – the law of attraction in action.
“Every cloud has a silver lining”, there is always something to appreciate about any situation.
“Absence makes the heart grow fonder”, isn’t that all about contrast?
“Beauty is in the eye of the beholder”, it’s how you vibrate that makes you beautiful in any case, but it’s as much about how another person decides to see you, and of course that has to do with their own vibration.
Can you think of any proverbs that have a positive law of attraction slant? If you do come up with one, please leave me a comment.
