My ususal answer is with a question: "how do you feel about money?"
Close your eyes right now and silently say the word "money" over and over again, until you start feeling an emotional reaction to the word. How does it feel? Do you feel good about it or does it make you feel bad? Do your thoughts go towards how you are thriving and looking forward to what you are going to do with the next tranche of money that comes in, or do you feel despair or helplessness and think about all the bills that need to be paid?
The subject of money is really two subjects: the having of money and the not having of money. On a scale of one to ten, having as much money as you desire and never feeling a shortage would be a score of 10. Where would you put yourself on this scale?
If your answer is anywhere below the number seven, it would indicate that the balance of your thoughts is on the lack side of the equation. Change your thoughts and your experience will change. Find ways to appreciate where you are and as long as you don't keep checking for things to show up you will be on the path to accomplishment and one day you will wake up and it will all be there.
You see, the law of attraction does not respond to the words you use, "I want money", it responds to the way you feel about the words you use. What do you think about when you buy a lottery ticket? Most people have some of the following thoughts:
- It's hard to make money
- I don't have enough money
- Things are so expensive, I can't keep up
- There's never enough money
Coming from an attitude of lack can never lead to an improvement. We need to change our relationship with money in order to allow more money to flow into our experience. Start with using more empowering language:
- I know so many people who were where I am who figured out how to do better
- Things always work out for me
- I am able to make do
- Better things are on the way for me
Did you notice how these statements are very general? It is easier to be generally at peace, our discomfort with our sitation starts when we get specific, such as saying "I hate this job - it doesn't pay enough", soften how you feel, and you will improve your results.
