I was on my way home from an event at night – it was a very cold night, minus 20 degrees centigrade. I was running low on fuel and thought I would stop and fill up on my way, that way I would be able to take it easy in the morning. So I stopped at my regular place, filled up and got back behind the wheel. The car wouldn’t start.
What? How can that be? It was fine a minute ago – did it freeze suddenly? The attendant at the gas station tried to help – I was blocking the pumps. Other people tried to help – in the end I called in for roadside assistance. The tow truck showed up and a friend came around to pick me up and bring me home. The next day the car dealership called to let me know that it was the ignition – it had worn out – just regular wear and tear.
At first I thought, how did I create that – then I remembered a workshop that I had heard a long time ago where Abraham had essentially said that there is normal wear and tear of physical things, but when you are in the vortex, things cooperate so that if a break down is going to happen it happens with perfect timing when all the components are lined up so that even something like a car breakdown happens right at a gas station, where all sorts of help is available, and at the end of my day, so that it will not affect any of my activities during the day – it gives new meaning to the words “timing is everything”.
So many things like that happen all the time in my life – I feel really, really blessed.
I was invited to an awards dinner at my daughter’s university. My daughter and I agreed that we would meet at the library and walk to the event together. I took the train to Toronto and kept thinking: “wouldn’t it be nice if Kinza walks into the library at exactly the same time as myself” – guess what? Yes, she stepped into the foyer at exactly the same time that I did.
I love using a small chopper in the kitchen – I use it for all sorts of things – after ten years of use the poor thing gave up – the plastic bowl cracked. They don’t make those little things anymore. Three days later I walked into a thrift store and found one hardly used – for next to nothing.
My laptop was giving me indications that it needed to be retired. So I set a budget and went shopping. Guess what – there was a sale going on, so the laptop I wanted but thought I wouldn’t be able to get as it was outside my budget was now in my budget. Not only that, when I asked if there was a possibility to get an additional discount, I was told that an open box had just come in – would I like to save an additional 10%? My old laptop served me for exactly nine years – how cool is that?
I broke my favourite coffee mug after 20 years of service. It was a special mug – I bought it in Dubai, and enjoyed my morning coffee in it ever since. It was a very special china company, not available in stores where I live. My daughter found their website, and we looked at some mugs together – nothing really caught my eye – it seemed that in 20 years this brand had turned into a really expensive one. Same thing happened again – I went to the thrift store and found two mugs that I liked from the same company and paid 1/60 of the price on their website.
Today, when I put my glasses on the bathroom counter one of the arms came off in my hand – shoot! It had been loose for a couple of days – almost came out a week or two ago and I had been thinking of tightening it, but didn’t do it. I thought for sure I must have lost the little screw, but I hadn’t – it was lodged in a crevice on the frame. All I had to do was to line it up and screw it in real tight – not bad for a pair of glasses bought three years ago.
When you’re in the vortex you have perfect timing in your life. Can you imagine all the moving parts that have to line up so that I arrive at the library at the same time as my daughter? This meant that I had to finish work and leave home at a certain time. It meant that the traffic on the highway would be perfect so that I would arrive at my daughter’s apartment right on time and get on the train just at the perfect time. It meant that I had to arrive on time and walk at a certain pace to arrive exactly as she did.
That thing about the car – I had been to so many places that day – stopped and started the car countless times, driven on the highway – this ignition thing could have happened at a very inconvenient time – but it didn’t – it happened at the best possible time. How amazing is that? How amazing that the Universe took care of all of that for me.
