A Law of Attraction Approach to Understanding Depression

5 things someone suffering with depression needs you to know as seen through a Law of Attraction point of view.

1. Depression Is Not a Choice
Depression isn't something someone chooses—it’s the result of accumulated momentum, like a car crash. No one chooses to be in a car crash – but accidents happen. Just as a car needs repair after an accident, someone with depression needs time to work through their thoughts, emotions, and experiences. It's not the time to suggest positive thinking; their momentum is too strong for that. Wait for it to subside, and then they will be ready to hear and embrace positive thoughts.


2. Their Attitude Isn’t About You
If they’re distant or cancel plans, it’s not about you. Depression pulls their vibration down the emotional, making it impossible to connect with you if you’re in a higher, happier place. Law of Attraction will never connect people who are so vibrationally distant from each other. Even if they live under the same roof they will just not feel like communicating with each other. If you want to help, don’t force interaction; give them space and time to recover.


3. They Need Validation
Acknowledging their pain is important – it makes them feel understood. Let them know that their feelings are real and valid. Without this validation, they may feel misunderstood and withdraw further. Simply saying, "I understand what you're going through," can be incredibly comforting. Don’t make it about right and wrong – remember that there is no right or wrong, just a multitude of perspectives. Their perspective is real and meaningful to them, just like yours is to you.


4. They’re Doing the Best They Can
Depression drains energy, leaving their emotional cup empty. They need help with the basic tasks of life—things that don’t stop just because they’re depressed. Helping with chores, bringing them food, or even cleaning their home can lift a huge weight off their shoulders, allowing them to start feeling better. Neglecting things that they just don’t have the energy for, will take them further down the emotional scale, because it will make them feel “not good enough.”
 
5. They Need Love, They Don’t Need You to Feel Sorry for Them
What they need most is love—pure, high-vibration love. Visualize them as the happy, healthy person they can be or once were. When you interact, see them in this vibrant light rather than focusing on their current state. Feeling sorry for them will bring you down the emotional scale and from a place low on the emotional scale you cannot help them. Not only that, being low on the emotional scale impacts your life as well. Hug them with the intention of connecting with their true, vibrant self.
