Making Logical Decisions: Is there anything wrong with following our mind instead of our heart?6/29/2024
think I know better and decide to take a different route based on my past experiences. This is what happens when our heart says, "Come this way, you can do it," but our mind, influenced by subconscious beliefs, suggests another path.
Is there anything wrong with following our mind instead of our heart? Of course not. Our mind isn't trying to mislead us; it also wants us to reach our goals. To follow the GPS (or our heart), we must believe that it knows better than our mind. That's what trust is all about. The advice from our mind reflects what we are ready for now, while the advice from our heart reflects what we want to be ready for. The more we trust, the more prepared we are to follow the guidance from our heart, soul, inner-being, or the universe. Trust is the key to moving from asking to receiving. It's the switch that flips us from the asking phase to the receiving mode. Whether we follow the heart or the mind, we have control over our decisions, symbolized by the steering wheel and dashboard indicators in a car. Once a goal is set, our focus guides us in that direction. The power of focus is crucial because it determines the path we take. If I focus on love and appreciation, I've set that as my goal. The path I follow towards that goal is going to depend on momentum. This is what Abraham calls the path of least resistance. When I have momentum of trust my heart will lead the way. When I have momentum of logic, my mind will lead the way. Either way, I will receive guidance for my next step on my journey. The path with more momentum is the one I believe in more, whether heart-based or mind-based. This momentum guides our next steps. If the guidance tells me not to proceed, it doesn't mean the goal is wrong; it means I'm not ready yet. Just like preparing for a marathon, we must lay the groundwork before achieving our goals. Our mind will help us to determine what we need to do in order to get ready, so that we can feel confident in undertaking the journey we are contemplating. If you were leaving for a road trip that your heart is calling you to take, your mind will remind you that you should stop at the gas station to fill up for the journey, when your logic has momentum. When your heart has momentum, you will just pick up and go, trusting that when you need gas, a gas station will show up on your path at the perfect time and place. See the difference? Both our mind and our heart want us to achieve all our desires. Trust just removes all the worry in the planning of the road trip and the more we practice trust the more things fall into place magically.
