Why Suppressed Emotions Block Your Happiness (and How to Heal Them)

Have you ever felt disconnected from your emotions? You’re not alone. Many of us lose touch with our ability to recognize, process, and work through emotions early in life. For me, this realization hit hard when I first discovered the Law of Attraction and heard Abraham talk about “feeling.” I couldn’t feel anything—and that’s because I had spent years suppressing my emotions.

There are many reasons we push our emotions down. For me, it was a lack of tools. I didn’t know how to process what I was feeling, so I avoided it altogether. There was also fear—fear that if I allowed myself to feel deeply, my emotions would overwhelm me, or I’d lose control and others might judge me.

But the result of suppressing emotions is that we lose the ability to feel real joy. When we bury our feelings, they don’t just disappear—they sit within us, unresolved, blocking our happiness and ability to truly manifest.


Emotions and the Law of Attraction

The beauty of the Law of Attraction is that it offers us tools to reconnect with our emotions. Three foundational areas can help us work through our feelings:
  1. Spirituality: Spiritual practices provide a space to trust in something greater, helping us open up to our emotions.
  2. Psychology: Understanding our beliefs and thought patterns can uncover the roots of emotional blocks.
  3. Science: Energy and physics explain how emotions and vibrations influence the reality we create.

The Law of Attraction combines these three approaches, giving us a holistic framework to explore and heal our emotional world.

My Turning PointA personal wake-up call came when my mother, the most important person in my life, passed away. I couldn’t cry. I couldn’t process the loss emotionally, and that’s when I realized something was wrong. My emotional guidance system had become dormant from years of misuse.

I recognized that my life was centered around logic and thought. I’d always asked myself, “What do you think about this?” instead of “How do you feel about this?” That question—"How do you feel?"—was the key to reviving my emotional guidance system.

How I Revived My Emotional Guidance System

I started by simply asking myself:
  • How do I feel about this situation?
  • How do I feel about this person?
  • How do I feel about this work, this home, this body?

At first, the answer was often, “I don’t feel anything.” But over time, as I kept asking, my ability to feel returned. It was like jumpstarting a car battery that had been sitting unused.

Now, I balance both thought and emotion. I ask, “What do I think?” and “How do I feel?” together. This combination helps me use my thoughts as a tool to regulate my emotions, which is essential for moving up the emotional scale and manifesting the life I desire.

Why Emotional Regulation Matters

Emotions are the foundation of manifesting. When you learn to feel and regulate your emotions, you unlock your true creative power. By recognizing and shifting low emotions, you can align with higher vibrations, allowing the Law of Attraction to bring your desires to life.

Over time, you’ll find that this simple practice opens the door to greater joy, clarity, and manifesting power.
