What are the forces at play – how is the law of attraction working in these situations?
I’ve learnt from Abraham, that manifestation occurs only for one reason and one reason alone – and that reason is “momentum”. The momentum of desire. When someone is poor, and desires more money, they keep asking for it. They ask for it with their vibration even when they are not asking for it with their words. As they continue to ask for it they y add more pulling power or momentum to the desire. How is that? Well, it’s the simple laws of physics. Energy transfers from the one exerting or producing energy to the object that it is transferred to. The transfer of energy creates a change in the state of the object – for example, energy in the form of heat from our hands results in a change of temperature of ice cream and makes it melt. Our thoughts are a form of energy. We transfer that energy to the object that we think about or focus upon and as we do so we start pulling it towards us. So the more you want something the more the pulling power of your desires, the faster the object of your desire is being pulled towards you. Make sense? If this makes sense, then you should be asking a question at this point in time. You should be saying, “Zehra, if I am pulling the object of my desire towards me by thinking about it, then things that I really really want should show up – manifest really quickly, so why don’t they? I really really want more money, if what you say is true then money should be showing up in my life really quickly – why isn’t it?”. It’s those negative beliefs that keep things from coming. Things are lined up and ready to pop, and you are right there at the other side of the tree, but can’t get to them. If we knew that we had negative beliefs that were getting in our way we would get rid of them – but in reality, most of us have no idea what our beliefs are. A belief isn’t something big, like the belief in God or the belief in good or evil – a belief is just a thought you think again and again. So when you think the thought “my neighbour always does this” and you think it again and again – it turns into a belief. People have all sorts of beliefs. Just today I was at a dinner party and I heard a mother say to her two year old son, whom she had sat on the table as she fed him his dinner – “don’t wriggle so much, you’ll fall” and I thought, “that’s just her belief”, she could chose to have a different belief if she wanted to – she could believe “my child is always safe”. Which thought feels better? My child is always safe or my child is in danger of falling? You see when you think thoughts that feel bad, those thoughts form the trees that get in the way – those thoughts are your negative beliefs. If you pay attention you can spot your negative beliefs because everything that you think and everything that you say is always based on a belief. Positive beliefs are enabling and negative beliefs prevent. Know that if you are doing everything you think you need to do and the object of your desire is still not manifesting then it is only for one reason and that reason is the existence of negative beliefs. Identifying negative beliefs is like peeling an onion – there are many layers. But that is where all our work is. If we could identify and remove all our negative beliefs, there would be no trees in the middle of our path and all things that we want would come easily to us. But here’s the thing – it doesn’t matter how big that tree of negative beliefs is; it doesn’t matter how deep its roots are, when the pulling power of the desire is high enough it results in our reaching a point where we can soar above that tree or push right through it, and move towards the things we want despite anything that stands in the way. So in the end desire trumps. But in order for it to trump, you have to look away from the tree. You see, the tree only exists because you look at it, soon as you look away – it’s gone. And that’s what happens when the momentum of desire is high, when something is important enough that nothing can keep you from it, you tend to ignore all the negative beliefs in your way in one fell swoop. That’s the kind of thing that happens when a mother does something unbelievable like picking up a car to save her child – she forgets all the rules of our world that tell us that it is impossible. It’s also the sort of thing that happens when someone is given a verdict that their life will come to an end within a definite period of time, and they stop fretting about all the things in their life that are not working and focus on making the most of everyday. It’s the sort of thing that happens when people give up on that thing they want and when they do that they also give up all the beliefs that are attached to it, and then it comes. That’s what it boils down to – finding a way to deal with your negative beliefs. Here are the ways in which we can achieve this shift: 1. Give it up in one go – relax – sometimes this means giving up. When you give up you accept where you are and stop fighting. When you stop fighting, you stop lending your energy to the negative beliefs in your way, and when you do that the momentum of these negative beliefs subsides and they stop being active in your life – and before you know it you accomplish your desire or you get to a place where you have the satisfaction that you were reaching for in the first place. You see, that satisfaction you want can come to you in so many ways – many of them are ways that you could never have imagined possible. 2. Take your eyes of the problems, the tree in your way – shift your attention. When you shift your attention you stop feeding the tree and the negative momentum subsides. Negative beliefs only exist as long as you keep looking at them – the minute you stop looking they are gone. So when you find something else to look at that you can appreciate, the positive energy you generate helps you to move closer to your desire. 3. Work on the beliefs one by one and chop down the tree. This means finding the negative beliefs, and then doing the vibrational work. Everything you are afraid of is a negative belief, every challenge that you think you have is a negative belief. You can find your negative beliefs and you can turn them around using the processes in the book Thrive. In my journey, I have flopped flopped between all of the above alternatives – sometimes giving up, sometimes looking for things to divert my attention, but most of all really working on those negative beliefs so that their power over me is gone for ever – when you do that you know you are truly free. That freedom is delicious and it is worth every bit of the work – every bit of the effort – every bit of the work. Much love and appreciation, Zehra

I have heard someone who manifests by making peace with the idea that what they want might never happen. She believes it can happen, but in order to detach from the outcome, she visualises what she wants and then (to remind herself to be detached) tells herself 'it's not going to happen' each time she does so. This works for her.

Your friend saying one thing and believing another - she vibrates what she believes - the Universe responds to what she vibrates, and not what she says.
