How much do I need to know about  The Law of Attraction?

I received an email through my blog recently that inspired a response I wanted to share with everyone, because of the way it flowed through me – I knew it was inspired.  I am summarizing the question somewhat and editing it to protect the identity of the person who drew the answer through me.  In a prior email I had suggested to the person asking the question to try using some of Abraham’s processes to help achieve the things they wanted.  This is how they responded:

“I seem to have a limiting belief in me that tells me that I need to know Every Teaching of Abraham first (even the smallest of details) and only after knowing ALL the information will I be able to succeed.
Besides, I also have a few questions about action. I have been struggling to find the answer on whether action is required at some point or you could simply resonate with the right vibration without any action besides focusing. Lastly, I question about how I access infinite intelligence and how I can attain answers for my questions.”

I find it interesting that you think you need to know all of Abraham's teachings because Abraham has only one teaching and that is "get happy".  Abraham calls the rest “a dog and pony show” – ie., examples to help us understand better why getting happy is important and how we can get happy even when we do not have everything we want.  Abraham explains in many different ways because people understand in different ways.
Saying that you need to know all the teachings of Abraham before you start using any of them sounds like saying that you will not step into the water to swim until you have "intellectually" learnt everything about swimming, such as, which muscle set will fire with which stroke, how the physics of speed and water displacement work, what impact does the depth of the water have on your speed etc.  You don't have to learn any of that when you learn to swim - you just jump in and learn as you go - you keep fine tuning it, starting with basic techniques and learning new ones with time.  You also start learning about yourself and what works best for you.

In the same manner, when you learn to ride a bike you don't sit there first and learn all the laws of physics about speed, and balance before you get on the bike - you just get on and learn - you expect that you will make mistakes and then you will eventually get it right.  You don't learn all the engineering that goes into making a car - you just learn to use it.  To use a car you get your driver’s license – not an automobile engineering degree.  Then too, you don’t sit and read books about driving a car and then expect to drive perfectly the first time you take a car on to the road.  You expect that you will learn incrementally, and that is why you practice often.

You see we do not need to know everything about how something works in order to use it.  If that were the case it would take me a very long time to be able to start using all the simple gadgets I have in my house.

So my advice to you is to start riding the Abraham bike, you won't get it right the first time or maybe you will but if you never try you will never find out.  I can guarantee that if you tried eventually you will find your rhythm. I confess that it has taken me many years of diligent vibrational work to learn and I am still learning.
I recommend starting out with a simple process or thinking a little bit differently than what you’ve been used to and keep adding slowly – because altering existing beliefs is a process that can take time.  Don’t expect immediate results – although immediate results are possible, but looking for results actually keeps them at bay.  That’s what Abraham explains in the Panama Canal Analogy.

As far as action is concerned - of course there is action involved - but it is not action as in hard work - it is inspired action and that means being in the right place at the right time so that you can receive that expensive thing you wanted or meet that special person you wanted to meet, or get referred to the person who becomes instrumental to your getting the job you always wanted.  Abraham says that there is no point in taking action until you have cleaned up your vibration and got to a happy place upon the subject of your desire without taking score.  I heard Abraham say that action was the way we enjoy our creations at a physical level, whereas thought, specifically focused thought is the way we create our experience.  Positive thinking leads to positive creation or grid filling in and negative thought leads to negative creation or grid filling in.
Lastly, on the subject of accessing infinite intelligence to get answers – you are doing just that.  Because the universe will find a way of getting the answer to you through some way – someone or something will bring the answer to you or create the opportunity you need to tap into it.  Not all of us have to receive Abraham in the manner that Esther does – as long as we trust that the answer has been given and all we need to do is to relax – then we shall receive.

Thank you for asking your question – because you have make the energy of Source move through me.  There is great love here for you.

Thank you for this. It does take practice.

yes, it does - just like everything else. It is especially hard to learn how to think the right way when you have been doing it from the perspective of lack for all of your life - I find it interesting that we expect immediate change when we discover the law of attraction. I did too. But I understand now that it is a gradual process for me. I also understand that on some subjects it can be an immediate shift - such as when people decide to give up smoking. It depends on the person and on the subject that they are attempting to work on.
Blessings.
