Stephen King is one of the most successful writers of all time...
He's written 65 novels and dozens of shorter stories...
Sold hundreds of millions of books...
And is widely accepted as one of the most prolific writers there ever has been.
So you may be interested to find out...
He struggles with motivation to write...daily.
In his book Stephen King On Writing he talks about his daily battle with his writing desk.

Nearly every day he walks into his writing room...

Walks around the desk...

Arranges things on it...

Moves around books on his bookshelf...

All to avoid sitting down and writing - which he still finds hard.

Fascinating isn't it?

Here's what he does next though...

He has a non-negotiable in his head that he will always sit down and just start writing.

He doesn't need to write anything good - he just needs to write.

And once he starts writing...eventually...the lack of motivation wanes off and he's doing his work.

I share this with you because if Stephen King struggles to motivate himself to write...

...it means you can be kinder to yourself if you lack the motivation to do things you know you need to do.

What we all need to do though is what Stephen does...

Take action whether the motivation is there or not.

Just a little action.

He doesn't sit down with the intention to write a full book.

He sits down and just starts writing.

Find your equivalent of that.

And do it without mental negotiation.

I want to add a Law of Attraction understanding of why this works…
Action is one of those things that is largely misunderstood in the context of the Law of Attraction. Most people feel that they can “think” their way out of taking any action at all. This is incorrect.
Law of Attraction is all about taking aligned action, focused action; action from a place of confidence. There are three Law of Attraction principles at work here, which I want to highlight.
Number One: Stephen King has a ritual.
He starts writing. Writing whatever comes.
The process of writing in itself is like a switch that he has programmed into his mind and body from many years of doing it. An example is driving, once you get behind the wheel, you can drive – it’s programed into your mind and your body.
These sort of action switches are what we call anchors. Anchors are very helpful because the bypass the mind’s analytical filter. The mind doesn’t look at the pros and cons, the whys and why nots of an anchored thought or action.

Number Two: Stephen King has a ritual, that he “believes” in.
We all know the power of belief. Our beliefs override everything. Because Stephen King believes that this ritual works – therefore it works! Maybe it was something he learned from a mentor, maybe he learnt to write by consistently writing. Either way, if he believes it, he will manifest it.

Number Three: Stephen King has a lot of momentum on the subject of writing.
There is a powerful stream of energy flowing on the subject of writing, and soon as he steps into the stream, the current carries him. All expertise is created by consistent focus followed by consistent action – expertise is simply momentum and the ability to align with Source. Make sense?

Law of Attraction sounds simple: you attract what you think about – but in reality it’s application can be pretty complex.

I’m a geek when it comes to unraveling the behind the scenes connections in how things happen based on the Law of Attraction. If you have any questions for me to chew on, I would welcome the opportunity to explore.
I remain your sister on this journey towards Freedom, Growth & Joy.
