Emotional suffering and fear can be paralyzing, especially when triggered by a challenging experience that we struggle to process. A negative relationship can continue to exert control over us, preventing us from embracing something positive. It hinders our ability to be vulnerable because we become afraid of being hurt and so it becomes impossible to form deep emotional connections, and accept unconditional love.

When I committed to embarking on a journey of inner healing, I began to truly see the role that I had played myself that led to things going bad, and then worse. While I couldn't change what had happened, this commitment allowed me to adopt a fresh perspective. It empowered me to examine myself, my beliefs, and the subsequent actions I took in a new light. Gradually, I started to develop a greater sense of trust. Eventually I started to trust in myself to make healthy choices, establish boundaries when necessary, and recognize when it was time to let go. I trusted that I would be okay, irrespective of the outcomes. The power was restored to my own hands, and the past no longer dictated my present or future.

If instability was a recurring theme in your childhood, if you spent a lot of time in fear, it is possible to unconsciously gravitate towards it in your romantic relationships, even if they involve emotional abuse. Moving on from one person does not guarantee a different outcome with the next. History has a tendency to repeat itself in various ways unless you change the way you think, and change the vibration of fear and doubt that has you fixated on what could go wrong. Without embarking on a journey of inner healing, you may find yourself trapped in cycles that offer similar experiences and subsequent emotions. Moving on involves liberating yourself from the shackles of the past, which includes breaking free from any unhealthy conditioning that may exist – it means knowing that there is no need to be afraid, because things will always work out, you will be ok.
