Inspiration from the "other side"

Many years ago, when I was just getting to know Abraham, I went back home to visit my father.  My mother had transitioned three years earlier.  One day I decided that I wanted to visit her grave.  My father and brother said that they would accompany me in the morning.  Morning came, and my father, too depressed with the thought decided that he wasn’t going to come with me.  For some reason, my brother too had to decline.  He did need to go to work though and wanted me to make my visit and return the car to him in time for him to leave the house

I had been to visit my mother’s grave on a few visits prior, but as I was now in Canada, it wasn’t often.  This was my first visit in two years.  I got to the graveyard – it is a very large place, with many hundreds of inhabitants.  The graves are literally attached to each other because there is no place to put them.  The graveyard had entrances from each of it’s four sides to make it easier for people to access.  As I drove up to the side where the closest entrance was I was surprised to see that the doorway no longer existed.  No problem, I thought, I have a good sense of direction, I’ll go in through the main entrance and make my way to this side – shouldn’t be too hard.  Guess what? Half an hour later, I was still going round in circles! I couldn’t see any of the caretakers around that I might ask for assistance.

I would have to return soon because my brother needed the car.  I felt quite hopeless.  In my short visit home, and transportation constraints, I didn’t think I was going to be able to make this trip again.  If I didn’t find it in the next five minutes – I would have to leave.

Ready to give up and go back, I closed my eyes and offered a prayer to my mother. “Mama” I said “I need your help. Please guide me to where you are.” I opened my eyes and without thinking started walking.  When I felt the urge to stop, I stopped.  I looked at the inscription on the grave in front of me – there she was!  I had goosebumps all over me.  Something very special had happened here.  I returned home in a daze.  Happy, very happy and very satisfied.  “Thank you Mama”.

Today, this came to me during meditation. I started thinking about it with my new knowing.  What happened back then?

First thing was, my wanting was at a high.  I tried to fill in my own grid by taking action from a point of being unsure.  I didn’t get anywhere with it.  Then I gave up and released resistance.  I asked the point of focus that I knew to be my mother to help me.  The combination yielded to me within seconds the object of my desire.  That’s the law of attraction in action!

It makes me understand why Abraham says that it is easier to work with people who have given up or who are in the state of knowing that there is nothing to lose by trying something different.

Wouldn’t it be a lot easier if we had that attitude of resignation or attitude of trusting Source or God even before we start out on a search for something we desire?  Why do we have to do it the hard way first?  The answer is we don’t!  Abraham says that we can experience passion and joy without having to go through the contrast.
