Living in a box – a law of attraction discussion about true power

We don’t know it, but most of us live life in a box.

The walls of this box are made up of our beliefs on all subjects of our lives, and the world in general.  Our lives always reflect what we believe in, and in order to change something about the life we are living we need to change our thoughts about it.  That’s what a belief is – it’s just a thought we keep thinking.

A belief is a thought with momentum.  Momentum is just another word for “intensity” of feeling associated with a thought.  When you really, really, really believe in something it has a lot of intensity or a lot of momentum, and when you kinda sorta believe in something it has relatively less momentum or intensity.

You see, whatever your reality is today, it is a RESULT of the CHOICES you made in life.  The choices, or decisions you make are always based on what you THINK about the situation  you are in.  Making a decision is an ACTION.  Choosing not to do anything in a situation is also a decision, and therefore it is an ACTION.

So our thoughts create beliefs.
We evaluate everything on the basis of our beliefs.
Our beliefs guide our decisions.
Decisions are mental actions, and these mental actions or choices guide our physical actions.
Our actions lead to our results.
Therefore, if we want to change our results we need to change our thoughts.

….Simple – right?

Not really…
Because most of us don’t know the difference between a thought that leads to what we want (positive thought) versus a thought that leads to the opposite of what we want (negative thought).

The analogy I use often is “going to the dump or going to the park”.

It is a delicate refinement of the way we offer our words.

Our words determine where our thoughts are focused, and whatever we focus on determines the direction of our thoughts: positive or negative (park or dump).

As I learn about the law of attraction and teach what I have learnt, I observe that most of us live life in a box.  The walls of the box are made up of our beliefs.  The reality we live is based on what our beliefs allow.  Our box has four walls, they represent the four subjects of our lives: wealth, health, relationships or co-creation and self-esteem.  The roof of our box consists of faith and trust, and the floor on which we stand is the reality we live.

When our beliefs are limiting, the box we live in is very small, therefore the possibilities it allows are few.  For example, if someone has the belief that “hard work yields money” their life will reflect it and they will always have to work hard in order to get money to flow.  For someone who believes that “their intelligence helps them to work smart rather than hard”, the box is a little bigger and they are allowing money to flow with less work.  We would compare the two beliefs and say that the second one is a positive belief.  But this is not a definitive answer, because there can be a more positive belief than that, such as “money always flows freely in my life”.   As we find more and more positive beliefs we move from living in a small box to living in a bigger box – nevertheless, a box is a box, and there is no true freedom in living inside one.  Positive beliefs just make the box bigger, what we really want is to do away with all the walls around us.

Take another example.  Let’s say that we have a friend called Sam and he prone to frequent headaches.  So his belief is “I am prone to migraines – that’s just how life is”.  He goes to a doctor who tells him “there is no cure for migranes but they can be controlled with pain medication”. Sam believes the doctor, so now his new belief is: “I am prone to migranes, but I can control them with pain medication”.  He has gone from a very small box where he has no power to a slightly bigger box with a little more power.  Then one day a friend tells him that crystals can help with migranes.  Sam is excited now, and goes to a store that sells crystals where someone happy to help directs him to the perfect crystal.  Sam is wear this around his neck at all times.  This makes him feel better, and now his box is bigger.  He thinks “I am prone to migranes, but now I have this crystal which will get rid of them”.  This hasn’t really made his box any bigger, because he is still dependent on something outside of himself to make his reality better.  He has replaced medication with a crystal.  His box remains the same – he is still not really free.  The medication, and the crystal are “conditions” on which his well-being depends.  If he lost his crystal and his medication ran out, our friend Sam would be in deep dodo.

Because his desire for wellness is so intense (has so much momentum) one day Sam ends up at an Abraham-Hicks workshop.  There he learns that when he is experiencing any negative emotion (and pain is a physical manifestation of a negative emotion) all he has to do is to change his point of focus and think about something else and as he shifts his focus always looking for the positive his life will improve.  Now Sam has a new belief: “when I get a migrane all I have to do is to shift my focus and it will feel better”.  He’s moved into a bigger box – nevertheless, still a box.  After practicing shifting his point of focus with considerable success, Sam experiences a reduction in his migranes, and has developed the ability to deal with them effectively when they do happen.  A new belief is born: “migranes don’t worry me any more, because I know exactly what to do under any and all circumstances” – ah…a bigger box.  As he continues to practice the art of appreciation, one day Sam wakes up in the morning saying to himself “things always work out for me”.  He is now living his life unconditionally, not looking for the path, but “allowing” the path to unfold, one step at a time, right under his feet.  Now he is living outside the box, where all is well, where migranes don’t exist.

Freedom from the box is in believing that all things are possible, that there is always a way, and that we have guidance that is always taking us towards our greater well-being.  If we could hold on to these few beliefs we don’t need any others.  You see the purpose of life is joy, and how can we be truly happy if we aren’t really free?  Any belief whether negative or positive applies a condition to the way our reality can unfold, and when there is a condition, true freedom does not exist.  So true freedom is doing away with beliefs and living a truly free “unconditional” life.  Living unconditionally means living without judgement, seeing the good in everything, finding appreciation in everything and following the guidance that comes from within.

As long as we live, we never stop reaching for our freedom, a life without walls, and it’s Ok to take small steps towards that freedom, in fact, it’s better to take small steps towards it rather than aim for quantum leaps.

Much love and appreciation,
Zehra
