Schools and the Law of Attraction

Do you remember when you were a kid, did you love waking up each day and going to school?  I’m guessing that for most people the answer would be “No!”.

Do your children love going to school?  Would they be up-set if they had to miss school for a day?  I’m guessing the answer to that question would be “No!” as well.

Have you noticed that we actually have songs about holidays from school? Have you noticed how television programming for children has the child actors portray school as a terrible hardship that they are forever wanting to get away from.

Do you remember the all time hit film “Ferris Bueller’s Day Out”?

So what is the larger societal attitude towards school? We all know the answer don’t we?

Our babies are born into a society that has that underlying theme running through everything, and then they grow up to age four and we expect them to go to school and love it.  A little hypocritical don’t you think?

So every day we take a bunch of kids and a bunch of adults (teachers and staff) and throw them together in the environment of school, and we make it mandatory for them to go there as well as learn and have fun.  Illogical.

I think that it is quite wonderful that our children still go – most of them do it because it is expected of them, and they even get good grades in order to please their parents (mostly).  Some of them strike out, they are the black sheep because they are pushing back against this illogical system, and these are the kids we say have behavioural issues!

What are we implicitly teaching our children? That they must go to school and do well at it in order to please us?  Abraham asked a very valid question in one of their workshops to the effect: do we use any of the stuff we learn at school in our lives?  I thought about it, and the answer is “no”, not the stuff in the books but certainly the skills learnt in dealing with other people and of identifying goals and reaching them, and of being an allower by focusing on the fun things about school, and about tapping into source to write exams, yes I do think I learnt a lot.

There is a lot of value in schooling.  I think that if we were able to change the negative belief system about going to school that we indoctrinate all new borns with, then we would have children going to school to have fun, because children at their core do love learning, they want to experience new things and expand by growing in various ways, and schools do an awesome job of creating a balanced personality.  Less rules and less focus on learning by rote would make schools a pleasure for our children to go to, and they wouldn't push back.

Even though it might seem like an impossible task to change society’s view on school being boring and a chore, I don’t think that it is impossible for us to change this view, because we have power of influence.  If only a few of us were to send positive energy towards the school system I think that we have the power to change it bit by bit.  Will you join me doing this?

Here’s my plan: it’s simple really, once in a while visualize my child going to school and having fun with the play as well as the learning.  Visualizing his teachers and staff being caring and fun loving wanting the children to enjoy learning and growing into wonderfully powerful beings.  Just thinking about television and the internet taking a positive stance on school and referring to school as a fun place to go to. I think this would be a great place to start and who knows where it might go from there?  Let’s try it, there is really no downside to it.

This is beautiful post and takes the thoughts I have had further and expands them in a useful way. Thanks! I am a teacher in a private school and have always hoped to make the lessons fun. I am privileged to have the kids who don't have academic leanings, so they are considered "problems" by a few around me. Just yesterday I got a thank-you note from a former student who said my classes were her favorite, so my intention that all of us have fun has often worked. I will return to this post for inspiration knowing that even if "only" a few of us turn our attention to what is outlined above wonderful things will happen. After all, one of us who is aligned is more powerful that millions who haven't gotten "there" yet! Thanks again!
