My ability to handle suffering my ability to keep going when something is boring, my ability to learn a new skill long after everybody else has gotten over it and gotten bored, and they're no longer interested, all I can see is it's utility, and in seeing it's utility and becoming obsessed with what that thing is going to allow me to do, I endure. no matter how hard it gets, no matter how painful it is. IF IT LIVES IN THE SERVICE OF MY GOALS, I DO IT"
TOM BILYEU, CEO Impact Theory/Co-Founder of Quest Nutrition
I was listening to Tom's talk on YouTube yesterday and I loved that last sentence. It resonated with me, because that is how I have lived my life - that is after I was done dealing with the shitty part. lol.
It's all about attitude isn't it - what are you willing to do to get to your goals? I was talking to a young girl the same age as my daughter. This child was feeling frustrated because she couldn't see a way towards her dream. I asked her, what do you need to do today to get just one step closer - not all the way there? Whatever that is - do it. Talk yourself into doing it - that is what it means to make a decision and line up with it, as Abraham keeps telling us.
As I coach and mentor, I discover that people make the the goal so big that they talk themselves out of it because it seems so impossible. But if you break it down and get willing to do whatever you can, and keep going you will get there. You have the ability to talk yourself into and out of whatever you want. Sometimes you can talk yourself into alignment and sometimes you need a coach. Are you going to talk yourself out of your dream because you don't want to ask for help?
